Yaniv Hofman Dance Company: HOME

Are we falling apart because of external reality, or has the disintegration already happened inside? Who is holding whom—the house holding the person, or the person holding the house? Through movement, modular costumes, and elements that are built and dismantled, protecting or restricting, the work offers an intimate and penetrating exploration of reality’s effects on personal relationships, romantic partnerships, family, and society.

Through rapid movement and colorful, modular costumes, the company offers a dance journey that includes destabilized foundations, personal crises, pain, and hope. The entire stage sways and shifts between a safe, protective environment and one that is exposed, painful, and collapsing. Fast-paced, colorful, with no dull moment. Intelligent, wonderful dance that every kind of audience will enjoy watching.

Are we falling apart because of external reality, or has the disintegration already happened inside? Who is holding whom—the house holding the person, or the person holding the house? The external reality imposed on us all resonates within us—with loneliness, conflict, and a longing for healing. The stage as a home, the garment as a prison, the body as an exposed space. HOME grows out of a personal fracture and from there turns toward a collective experience.
