The successful musical starring Roni Dalומי, Hani Nahmias, Tal מוסרי and others: things between him and her, fathers and sons, popular philosophy, the sun calling for Selichot, a fortune-teller, and neighborly relations. Scattered between the scenes are songs of love and pain, joy and sorrow—romances that have stood the test of many generations and are still sung today by members of the Sephardic community with great emotion and longing.
The musical is based on melodies from an anthology of Sephardic liturgical music and Yitzhak Levy’s book of romances.
The play portrays the life of a Sephardic neighborhood in Jerusalem in those days, focusing on one family, the Castel family: the tragedy of Victoria, accused of failing to preserve her virginity. Scattered between the scenes are songs of love and pain, joy and sorrow—romances that have stood the test of many generations and are still sung today by members of the Sephardic community with great emotion and longing.
