The Cameri Theatre: "Agamemnon"
A contemporary suspense play inspired by Greek mythology, at the Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv. Agamemnon is forced to make a fateful decision during a flight.
The leader of Athens takes off for Sicily to build a broad regional coalition against Troy and secure military aid, hoping to finally bring the prolonged war with Troy to an end. Mid-flight, the game changes: the leader of Troy proposes a chilling deal that is unmistakably relevant to our times.
Agamemnon (Greek: Αγαμέμνων), king of Mycenae, son of Atreus and Aerope, great-grandson of Tantalus and elder brother of Menelaus. According to another version, the father of Agamemnon and Menelaus was Pleisthenes, son of Atreus. According to Aeschylus, Agamemnon was king of Argos, not Mycenae. At the end of the play, he is murdered by his wife, Clytemnestra. In the second part, The Libation Bearers, his son Orestes avenges him by killing his mother. In the third part, The Eumenides, the Erinyes drive Orestes insane.
