Additional details about the creation of Mami Shimazaki: On October 7th, I lost the mother of a close friend. Confronted with loss and heartbreak, I traveled to Japan, my homeland, to revisit the questions that have accompanied me all my life: What is home, what is belonging, and to what extent am I still Japanese. Through body and movement, family memories and personal experiences, the work moves between Israel and Japan, between closeness and distance, examining identity not as a fixed state but as an ongoing process of change and balance. A dance and performance show incorporating video that explores questions of identity and foreignness.
