At her grandmother's shiva, a granddaughter discovers an old, locked and dusty diary that hasn't been opened for decades. Opening it reveals a shocking family secret and takes her back to the Jado concentration camp in Libya – one of the least known chapters of the Holocaust in history. Through its pages unfolds the story of Yosef and Victoria, a young couple from the Jewish community in Tripoli, who are uprooted from their home and sent to the heart of the desert. Alongside Yosef's sister and a Jewish soldier from the Land of Israel, they struggle to survive within a reality of hunger, disease and forced labor, forced to choose between survival and humanity, between love and responsibility. The play moves between present and past, weaving moments of pain, humor and hope, until the truth that the diary has guarded for decades is revealed. The production combines realistic narrative with familiar Israeli songs and original music that accompany the characters and give voice to a powerful human story about memory, love, survival and the power of testimony.
