In doing so, Amichai saved Hebrew poetry from the dangers of excessive eloquence and irrelevance. In his poems, Amichai developed a structured perspective on the right way to live, love, and even die, and expressed everything with delicacy, gentleness, and forgiveness, while not shying away from sharp criticism, irony, and self-humor. Amichai's books have been translated into over 40 languages, and he is considered the most successful Hebrew poet worldwide.
