Tour of Shared Courtyards in Tel Aviv led by Dana Mor. We will focus on nature-city relationships, courtyard planning, and integrating nature into residential areas. The tour will explore different approaches and present connections between architecture and gardening.
The tour will focus on shared residential courtyards, which form a significant part of the open space in the city and serve as living areas for a variety of plant species. These courtyards, established under the influence of Patrick Geddes's Garden City principles, showcase different aspects of nature-city relationships and allow residents to influence the urban environment.
During the tour, which will cover courtyards of various types, different approaches to courtyard planning and integrating nature into living spaces will be presented. Historical connections between architecture and gardening in the courtyards will also be explored, alongside the various roles attributed to plants in the courtyards: aesthetics, ecology, connection to nature, and more.
Guided by architect Dana Mor, who is researching the city's courtyards as part of her doctoral work at the Technion.
Tour duration: Approximately an hour and a half
Meeting point: Chen Boulevard at the corner of Lotteris Alley, on the boulevard. The tour will end at the corner of Ibn Gabirol Street and Hashoftim Street.
