SELAS, a new creation by Mayumana, captivating and multi-sensory. An original and powerful show translating the forces of nature into a mesmerizing stage experience of rhythm, movement, and emotion.
This year, Mayumana marks 30 years since its establishment – three decades of groundbreaking creation, with a theatrical language uniquely identified with it in Israel and worldwide. Within this significant milestone, SELAS was born, a new show that continues to push boundaries and expand the unique language of the troupe.
Inspired by the four elements – fire, water, air, and earth, the show connects pulsating music, precise choreography, surprising humor, and moving human presence.
It is not just a show but a total experience of body, sound, movement, humor, and energy.
SELAS (from Greek: energy of light and amplifying music) draws inspiration from the inner light that drives every movement and expresses the connection between elements, sounds, and people.
Boaz Berman, the creator of the show, says:
"SELAS was born from a long process of exploration and observation. I wanted to return to the basics – the four elements – and through them, see how we can renew the familiar language of Mayumana without losing its unique DNA. All the music in the show is original and was written especially as part of the desire to create a whole world. In a complex time like this, the very ability to create and bring something new to the stage is not a given. It is also a statement about the power of creation and the ability to let the spirit prevail."
