A Singer of Blossoms and Secrets from the Studio
Guide: Nurit Navat. 3.2.27
A special day combining a glimpse behind the scenes of public broadcasting with a musical journey among the winter blossoms of the Jerusalem Mountains. We will devote the first part of the day to a guided tour of the studios of the public broadcasting corporation “Kan 11.” We will look behind the scenes of the world of news, radio, and television; visit the broadcast studios and control room; learn about the process of producing programs; and discover how stories, voices, and images reach the screen every day.
After an independent lunch break, we will set out on a musical journey among the winter blossoms of the Jerusalem Mountains. Among carpets of narcissi, anemones, and cyclamens, and alongside the blooming almond trees, we will discover how each flower became a song, and how every song has a story. Beside the narcissi, we will sing “Waltz for the Protection of Nature” by Naomi Shemer and hear the story behind the song. Among the almond trees, we will sing “You Accompanied Me, My Land, in the Whiteness of Your Almond Blossoms” by Mordechai Ze’ira. Facing carpets of anemones, we will recall Shoshana Damari’s legendary performance, and beside the cyclamens, we will discover whether “The Cyclamen Really Grows Beneath the Rock.” Along the way, we will enjoy the clear mountain air, the sights of the blossoms, and the special encounter between nature, song, and stories. A unique day connecting the worlds of media, winter landscapes, and Hebrew song into one Israeli experience.
