Enemies: A Love Story is a new production of the renowned novel by the great Jewish writer and Nobel laureate, whose work won acclaim from readers around the world and served as the basis for the successful film of the same name, which received Academy Award nominations.
The epic romantic drama unfolds in New York in the postwar years. A young Jewish man who survived the Holocaust tries to reconcile himself with the horrors of the past, finding solace in relationships with two women who are madly in love with him. One is a Polish peasant who saved his life during the persecution; the other is a Jewish woman, sensual and emotional, who is in the process of getting divorced. When his former wife, previously presumed dead, unexpectedly appears in New York, the love triangle intensifies, and the choice he must make becomes truly dramatic and unpredictable.
