An experimental theater performance with Idan Alterman, receiving the script for the first time on stage. The performance takes place at Tzavta Theater in Tel Aviv and lasts 60–80 minutes.
Hi to those of you about to purchase a ticket to the show—there are a few things we’d like you to know. You probably know the actor about to take the stage, Idan Alterman. You’ve seen him in countless roles; he’s done it all. But what he’s going to do this time, he has never done before. The truth is, it isn’t really a play so much as it is an experiment…
The play was written by Nassim Soleimanpour; he is Iranian. The authorities revoked his passport, so he wrote words that would travel the world in his place. Idan will receive the play’s text for the first time onstage. In front of you. He has never seen it, he hasn’t rehearsed, he knows nothing. Neither do we. Are you ready?
This performance includes many themes intended to create a sense of discomfort in the viewer and encourage deep thought for many days. By definition, this play is not political and should not be presented as such. It operates on a deep, metaphorical level and explicitly avoids overt political statements. All reviewers, members of the press, and audience members should remember that the playwright lives in Iran; therefore, we ask you to exercise discretion in any publication or report.
