Last Chance!!! “Year Zero” Exhibition with Zeev Wolf

One of the Tel Aviv Museum’s most thoughtfully curated exhibitions, “Year Number Zero,” ends on October 3. So hurry and see it!!!

This year, the Tel Aviv Museum may have wanted to exhibit great artists from around the world, but something happened. Therefore, it had to look into its own storerooms and return to what had not been shown for so long—the works from the museum’s original collection.

Thus this brilliant, tragic, and anti-war exhibition, titled “Year Zero,” came into being. At first glance, it features many famous names and several well-known paintings framed by art from the first third of the 20th century. But at the heart of this exhibition lies the feat of one now-forgotten man.

I searched for his name in Tel Aviv’s place names but found neither a street, a square, nor an alley named after him—not in the municipal directory, nor on the maps. This means we need to talk about the feat of Dr. Karl Schwarz, the man who preserved Jewish art and created the collection of the Tel Aviv Museum. And, at the same time, see what the museum looked like during the first years of its existence.
