The Curator - Material Recycling Project for Artists

What is HaOtzar?

HaOtzar is Israel’s first-of-its-kind ecological recycling project for artists and creators. The project enables artists to reuse expensive materials remaining in Tel Aviv-Yafo’s cultural institutions after exhibitions are dismantled, from various municipal departments after completing works, and from the warehouses of local businesses. HaOtzar is a joint initiative of the Union of Plastic Artists and the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.

The Union of Plastic Artists and the Authority for Environmental Protection, together with the Yarkon Drainage Authority, are honored to invite you to a festive material sale event as part of the "Beshvil HaYarkon" (For the Sake of the Yarkon) Festival activities.

What can you find at the upcoming sale?

At this event, you will find an abundance of excellent items and materials collected from storage facilities of cultural institutions and businesses across the city. The Textile Department has been refreshed and updated; you can find clean fabrics of various types—felt, jute, lycra, gauze, and more. There are large quantities of wool, threads, ropes, buttons, buckles, and more.

You will also find high-quality latex rubber display mannequins, functional plastic head stands, and special pigments. We have wax, ink, acrylics, oils, and generally all materials for painters. You can find various tools here, some electric, manual, or motorized. We found illuminated wine coolers that have become display cases, rusty iron parts we extracted from machines, gear wheels, and even a few unidentifiable items. Display cabinets, podiums, chairs, tables, and everything a studio needs to look inviting.

We brought more doors, more windows, more flooring from dismantling projects, and more exciting wood pieces. Sound systems with excellent quality amplifiers and speakers, urban benches, trash cans, barrels, fences, bars, dismantled installations where trees have already grown, and recycled paper for sale—thick paper made solely from waste.

What do we have this time?

Good trees, wooden logs, table legs, chairs, bamboo, MDF, tin, iron, drawers, rust, sinks, zinc, sheets, lighting parts, posters, textiles, laboratory equipment, glass, pipes, pigments, colors, fences, and installations. Dismantled bars, old doors, and windows. Bring your own bottle; there will be cold water and the best atmosphere.

Registration for allocations requires advance registration.

Location:
The HaOtzar complex is located at 38 HaBarzel Street, within the Sh.P.E. department complex of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.
