Urban Tour between Gardens and Pathways

Join an urban tour in Tel Aviv-Yafo between well-known and hidden gardens and pathways, as imagined by Patrick Geddes as a Mediterranean garden city. During the tour, we will visit urban gardens and discuss their role and the process they have undergone over the years based on research conducted for the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.
The 1925 Geddes Plan outlined the expansion of Tel Aviv northward up to the Yarkon River. An integral part of it were the small block gardens, hidden within the urban blocks created by the plan. During the tour, we will visit several of these urban block gardens, some well-known and others that remain secrets known only to locals. Throughout the tour, we will discuss the central role that Geddes assigned to the block gardens, examine the process of their creation, and the changes they have undergone over the years. We will wander through and discover passages and pathways connecting the gardens, and get to know part of the secret network of alleys, routes, and green "windows," whose foundations were laid in the Geddes Plan and continue to serve as a basis for the city today.
The tour is based on the findings of the research conducted by architects Ruth Liberty Shen and Adi Har Noy, prepared for the Conservation Department of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, and presented in the "Urban Block Gardens" exhibition at the Liebling House, the White City Center.
The tour is led by Anat Groisman, a certified tour guide.
Duration of the tour: approximately two hours; Route length: up to 2 km.
Starting Point: Liebling House.
Ending Point: Chen/Latriss Boulevards.
