Birds surround us everywhere—in our yards, cities, fields, at sea, in forests, and around pools and lakes.
Some remain here throughout the year, while others cross enormous distances on migratory journeys to spend the winter or summer with us.
We invite your children to learn about and get to know up close the marvelous world of birds found right above us, especially the winged creatures characteristic of the area’s aquatic habitats.
In our birdwatching club, children will become young birders through field observations, learning the art of identification, and getting acquainted with the amazing stories of nature and birds.
Meetings will take place once a week, on Tuesdays from 4:00–5:30 p.m., at Ma’agan Michael Birdwatching Park. Our nearby surroundings include the birdwatching park, Ma’agan Michael fish ponds, the Diphla Nature Reserve, and the seashore—a marvelous variety for adventures!
The club will include at least 28 weekly meetings per year, led by a permanent, experienced, and professional instructor.
The club is suitable for students in grades 3–6.
🦜 Get to know backyard birds and understand their way of life in human surroundings
🦜 Get to know the migratory birds that spend the winter at the birdwatching park and fish ponds—we will learn to identify them and hear about their migrations
🦜 Learn the language of birds and distinguish between a calm chirp, an alarm call, and a courtship song
🦜 Observe and gain an in-depth familiarity with the impressive birds of prey in the area
🦜 Environmental responsibility: We will explore Taninim Stream and the Diphla Nature Reserve and understand the importance of water, build nesting boxes and bird feeders, and learn how to protect coastal areas and open spaces
This is an opportunity to give your children tools that will serve them throughout their lives: responsibility, curiosity, and a genuine connection to the world in which we live.
Nice to meet you, I’m Anav, a bird photographer and birder.
What began as a hobby for me became, over the years, a deep connection with nature.
Through birdwatching, I learned to look at nature differently, notice the small things, get to know species, understand behaviors, and above all, pause for a moment and be present.
I can spend hours in the field waiting for a particular bird or a particular moment, and even after all these years, I am still excited by every new encounter.
I love the combination of birdwatching and photography: on the one hand, learning about and getting to know the birds, and on the other, trying to capture a small moment from their world through the camera.
For me, the more we get to know nature, the more connected we become to it and the more we want to protect it.
