Visit to the Menorah Caves complex at Beit She'arim National Park. The exhibit includes an audiovisual presentation that tells the story of the menorah from the Temple period to its becoming a symbol of the state. The presentation will be screened in a water cistern that was used as a Haganah weapons cache.

Even the most cynical will have to admit it's moving. Sometimes, well-known symbols hold many forgotten layers. Winter is the perfect time to visit the Beit She'arim National Park, discover the Menorah Caves complex, and especially be moved by the audiovisual show that tells the story of the menorah from the days of the Temple to its becoming the symbol of the state. These caves were discovered in the 1930s and they feature magnificent reliefs of the seven-branched menorah, telling the stories of many Jews who came to be buried at Beit She'arim. The show itself is presented in the water cistern that was used as a Haganah hideout. Already mentioned symbolism?
Volunteers will welcome visitors and explain the site.
When: Fridays at 10:30, Saturdays at 10:30 and 12:30.
The Menorah exhibition (without meeting site volunteers) will be screened for the public from 10:00 to 14:00 - details are available at the visitor center.
Pre-registration is required through the Israel Nature and Parks Authority reservation system: "Beit She'arim visit to the Menorah Caves".
The visit will begin exactly at the specified time above. Please arrive fifteen minutes early to arrange entry or payment according to the time indicated in the registration system. Travel to the complex is by private vehicle.
