Friday Movie Screening: Radical (Radical)
Based on a true story, Radical tells the tale of Sergio, a teacher at a school in an impoverished area of Matamoros, Mexico. His students, coming from difficult backgrounds, consistently rank at the bottom of national achievement lists, and the classroom atmosphere seems focused more on discipline than opportunities for growth. This sounds like a dead end, or for Sergio—a chance to try something new. There is just one problem—he has no idea what he is doing.
Radical is a sincere, life-affirming, and inspiring story about a teacher who decides to change his approach, encouraging his students to learn, explore, and, just as importantly, enjoy themselves while doing so.
A lecture by Ron Fogel, a cinema lecturer, will precede the film.
Venue: Auditorium, Beit Sapir Cultural Center
