In the program:
At the opening of the evening: We will divide into workshops of creativity and study groups on the theme of women, Torah, and water.
In the heart of the evening: We will renew the ancient custom that turns water, which symbolizes Torah and the beginning of life, into a ceremony of blessing, healing, and abundance, in the beautiful yard of the Yad Yitzhak Ben-Zvi.
At the end of the ceremony: The performance of Aman Wassif: Mor Karbasi in a show that moves between North Africa and Spain – Ladino singing, Haketia, liturgical poems, and women's songs from the Atlas Mountains, in a live musical journey between ancient traditions and a contemporary female voice. Like a river flowing from generation to generation, her voice carries stories of mothers and daughters, of love, longing, and femininity, connecting deep roots with a living moment on stage.
About the ceremony: "Water is none other than Torah" – thus our sages interpreted the connection between the elements of the world, water, and Torah as springs of life. The qualities of water for healing, protection, and renewal were physically and magnificently expressed in the Shavuot customs among North African Jewish communities. From this tradition, we will discover a forgotten ceremony, "Lilat Al-Uwina" (Night of the Spring), passed down by the chain of mothers/women of the Djerba community, who used to go out on this night in a festive procession to a water source, and hold a gathering of ancient singing, prayer, and blessing.

About the event partners:
Aravot – Women Connecting Tradition: A creative Beit Midrash for women of diverse identities, where Jewish tradition, feminism, and social justice meet. In the Beit Midrash, participants study from the Jewish, Sephardic Eastern tradition – both written and oral – from a female perspective, with the aim of restoring intergenerational continuity and strengthening the Sephardic female voice as a shaping force in the Jewish space.
The World Federation of Moroccan Jewry: Founded in 2001, it brings together dozens of organizations, public figures, and intellectuals, and boasts over 100 branches in Israel and worldwide. Its activities focus on the promotion of Moroccan Jewish heritage, emphasizing its contribution to Israeli society, assisting new immigrants, and providing scholarships to students.
Mor Karbasi: An internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, one of the prominent voices connecting Spanish-Jewish traditions to a contemporary, living, and breathing sound. In her creations, she moves between Ladino, Haketia, liturgical poems, and women's songs from North Africa and the Atlas Mountains, singing in Hebrew, Spanish, and Moroccan Arabic. Her unique and intimate voice brings to the stage a world of emotional depth, cultural roots, and a strong and engaging stage presence.
