Canaro is a virtuoso combination of manouche swing and Hungarian Romani music—a musical journey between Paris and Budapest that you will experience nowhere else. When Canaro takes the stage, two worlds merge: 1930s Paris, where Django Reinhardt revolutionized jazz guitar, and the dazzling universe of Budapest’s coffeehouse culture, where Romani virtuosos became legends.
Manouche swing and Hungarian coffeehouse music may seem worlds apart, but they are actually related: both celebrate freedom, virtuoso improvisation, and the joy of life. Canaro’s music reveals these shared roots, seasoning Django’s classics with Hungarian flair and interweaving both traditions in the ensemble’s original compositions.
