The film will be screened as part of the Israeli Competition at the Docaviv Festival.

An examination of Israeli society during a year in which it confronted the greatest trauma in its history. Ritual does not focus on the major events, but instead turns its gaze inward, toward the margins of what is unfolding. Moving between events and locations throughout the country, it presents a picture of a divided and polarized society seeking comfort and agency through rituals in the public sphere: from memorial ceremonies, protests, and escapist events to nationalist marches and religious observance. Through these various rituals, people respond to reality and try to reshape it. At the same time, the gaze repeatedly returns to the landscape of Gaza as it is destroyed—a recurring image that itself becomes a national ritual.
