Barrelhouse Jazzband Featuring Caroline Mhlanga (Berlin)
A celebration of swing, groove, and soul—Creole music, blues, and boogie-woogie.
The Barrelhouse Jazzband is one of the most prominent and successful ensembles on the international traditional-jazz scene. It is Europe’s oldest independent jazz band, active continuously since 1953 without institutional sponsorship.
With performances in 58 countries across five continents and an impressive presence on the world’s leading stages, the band brings vibrant, living jazz—music that knows and respects its roots while sounding completely of the moment.
They present a rich selection of masterpieces from classic jazz and blues, New Orleans music, and Creole jazz, alongside newer original compositions—a journey spanning more than a century of jazz history.
Their music is expressive and diverse, deeply rooted in the authenticity of the blues and seasoned with a touch of showmanship that makes the experience unforgettable.
Barrelhouse Jazzband takes old jazz, reignites it, and gives it a completely contemporary vibe.
Tradition with groove—and looking forward.
