Daniel Goldenberg — January 4, 2027
Chernobyl, the greatest ecological disaster of the 20th century, becomes in this lecture a case study for understanding Soviet society, its culture, and the attitude toward human beings under the totalitarian regime.
Daniel will take us on an anthropological journey, during which we will examine how the Soviet mentality, the attitude toward human life, and the values that shaped society were expressed in the disaster.
Through the events of Chernobyl, we will delve deeper into the internal processes that shaped the Soviet Union and gain a new perspective on present-day Russia.
