In May 2003, two actors who had immigrated to Israel from Tashkent staged a play based on a novel by Kōbō Abe—and it was this production that marked the beginning of the history of the Zero Theater, which a decade and a half later would receive Moscow’s Theatrical Star Award as the best Russian-language theater abroad.
The Woman in the Dunes returns to the stage: on September 6, 2026, the production will be performed in Beersheba, at the Levin community center hall. This is a psychological parable-drama for two, featuring Marina Belyavtseva and Oleg Rodovilskiy, who are also responsible for the stage adaptation, direction, set design, and choreography.
