Classical Russian ballet, the mesmerizing music of Tchaikovsky performed by one of the leading ballet companies globally, has long ceased to be solely an aesthetic pleasure for ballet fans, becoming a way to heal the soul through the touch of beauty and harmony inherent in this masterpiece. The ballet "Sleeping Beauty" is considered an encyclopedia of classical dance. This magical story, based on a fairy tale by Charles Perrault, has been on the stages of leading world theaters for over a century since its triumphant historic premiere staged by Marius Petipa in 1890 at the Mariinsky Theatre.

The musical genius of Tchaikovsky, the brilliant choreography of Marius Petipa, the dramatic libretto about the power of true love and fidelity, and the battle between good and evil, combined to create a perfect creation that one wants to enjoy again and again, even when knowing all plot twists and musical numbers.

The Russian Ballet Theatre presents the ballet Sleeping Beauty, staged and revised by the People's Artist of the USSR Vyacheslav Gordeev, based on the libretto by Ivan Vsevolozhsky and Marius Petipa. For this work, Gordeev was awarded the prize of the Association of Western European impresarios "For the Most Grandiose Production of 2000".

Petipa's virtuoso choreography, in the staging by Vyacheslav Gordeev, luxurious decorations and costumes designed by the talented artists I. Nezhny and T. Tulubyeva – this production contains everything to become the highlight of the upcoming theater season!

A legend of Russian ballet, Vyacheslav Gordeev, an outstanding Russian dancer, a premier of the Bolshoi Theatre, who dedicated his entire life to the art of ballet, demonstrated his talent also as a choreographer. Gordeev as a choreographer has earned respect and sympathy from foreign ballet critics. In 1992, after triumphant theater tours in Europe, Gordeev was awarded the title of "Best Choreographer of the Year," and later received a special prize from Maurice Béjart.

The State Theatre Russian Ballet holds its unique, dignified place in the world of ballet. Among foreign and Russian ballet lovers, this ensemble enjoys well-deserved popularity – on par with the Bolshoi Theatre and Mariinsky Theatre.

The English newspaper "Western Morning News" noted in its review of the Russian Ballet theatre: "Rarely does one get to see modern Russian talent in such brilliance." In Germany, "Russian Ballet" received the "Golden Ticket," indicating over a one hundred thousand audience members who attended their performances during one tour alone. The theatre, dubbed by the English publication "The Journal" as "a showcase of ballet talent," was awarded the title of "Best Ballet Ensemble in Europe" by the Association of Western European impresarios. In Russia, the Russian Ballet Theatre was honored with the prestigious national prize named after Fyodor Volkov — the founder of the Russian theater.
