Film Screening | "Pact with the Devil?" Based on an original idea by Nava Michael Tsabari, the film for the first time depicts on screen the path to the signing of the "Transfer Agreement" signed in August 1933 between the Nazi authorities in Germany and the leaders of the Jewish community in the Land of Israel. The agreement allowed German Jews to immigrate to Palestine and save some of their assets despite the strict restrictions imposed by the Nazis on capital exports from Germany. As a result of the agreement, tens of thousands of Jews came to Palestine/Israel, and with the money they deposited in Germany, German industrial products and raw materials were purchased and exported to Israel. This contributed to the development of the economy in the Jewish settlement in Israel but also caused a severe rift that resonates to this day between the Jews of Israel and the Jewish world, and between pragmatism and national pride.
