The course, organized by the School of Sustainability, consists of seven theoretical and practical training days, each lasting five hours. The course will take place on Fridays once a month from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the ecological food forest of the School of Sustainability at the Ganei Yehoshua Agricultural Farm, plus two training days at Asaf Bashan's orchard and nursery in Moshav Shekef.

**Meeting Details:**
- **16.10.26 Meeting 1:** In-depth understanding of tree structure, including root systems. Learn to select tree seedlings in the nursery and diagnose early-stage problems. Together, we will plant a tree and go over the correct planting protocol in the orchard.
- **6.11.26 Meeting 2:** Learn to lay the correct growth foundation, starting from soil inspection and selection in the orchard, through adding organic material of the desired type and dosage, to comparing different cultivation methods, their advantages, and disadvantages.
- **18.12.26 Meeting 3:** Learn to plan irrigation for the orchard and calculate the irrigation portion needed for each plant group.
- **15.1.27 Meeting 4:** At the heritage tree orchard in Moshav Shekef: Pruning and shaping the young tree. A highly practical session where we understand the considerations in pruning a fruit or shade tree, followed by a detailed demonstration and practical pruning and shaping of young trees using typical methods.
- **12.2.27 Meeting 5:** At the heritage tree nursery in Moshav Shekef: Sexual and asexual propagation. Enjoy making your own trees by exploring a variety of methods - cuttings, layering, and finishing with grafting. These methods demonstrate how, with two hands and pruners, an entire forest can be created.
- **5.3.27 Meeting 6:** Plant nutrition and protection - Treatment of the mature tree. Open a window to an infinite world, where we learn to diagnose tree canopy problems - differentiate between biotic and abiotic problems, and explore the main tools available in a tiny, chemical-free orchard.
- **2.4.27 Meeting 7:** Flowering - fruit set - harvest. Understand plant reproduction stages and their impact on achieving a successful harvest in the orchard.
To end, we will plan together an ideal fruit harvest layout in the orchard throughout the year.

- All meetings, except for 4 and 5, will take place at the School of Sustainability wing at Pardes Goldberg, located at the Ganei Yehoshua Agricultural Farm.
- The order of the meetings may change.

The course will be led by Asaf Bashan, a 39-year-old agronomist with Lab Shlef, specializing in Israeli orchard cultivation and care since childhood from his upbringing in the Jerusalem Hills. Asaf manages the “Heritage Tree Nursery,” specializing in local fruit tree production, and runs the “Gardening and Sprouting School,” where hundreds of adult students learn professional courses on these topics.
* Course participants can join the community of food forest activists, meeting for continued work in the forest and dedicated training at no cost.
