The old miller sets off on a journey, leaving each of his three sons a gift: to the eldest, a flour mill; to the second, a horse and a cart; and to Ferdinand, the youngest son, a cat. Ferdinand is disappointed, but soon discovers that this is no ordinary cat, but Chelbele - the Puss in Boots, who leads him on a journey of courage and self-discovery.
