Curating Architecture in the Anthropocene Era

What is the role of exhibitions, curators, and architects in an era of climate crisis and ongoing uncertainty? And can an exhibition transcend the boundaries of representation and create change in how we think, plan, and act in space?

The curators of the exhibition "Heritage of the Future," Friedrich von Borries and Sabrina Cagle, will host curators, researchers, and architects from Germany and Israel for a discussion on curating architecture in the Anthropocene - a period where questions of construction, nature, culture, architectural heritage, representation, imagination, and responsibility are no longer separate but are intertwined.

The event takes place as part of the exhibition "Heritage of the Future," a collective research project born out of dialogue with 28 local architects and proposes rethinking architecture itself: the role of the architect, architecture, and its modes of representation, and the way it is mediated and understood. In the absence of models, plans, or simulations, the exhibition seeks to explore how it is possible to curate not just objects but spaces for discourse, relationships, memories, and shared futures.

In the discussion, we will examine the possibilities and limitations of curating architecture, the aesthetics of the crisis, and the potential to imagine not only a future reality but perhaps also laying the foundations to reshape it anew.
