Learn to identify, verify, and respond to fake news online - 2 sessions for young adults (ages 22-35). Come get the tools to ensure no one deceives us!
**Session 1 | September 3 | What is Fake News?**
- Recognize online manipulations: What is fake news and what is the difference between a mistake, bias, and disinformation?
- How do algorithms and social networks affect what we see?
- Why are we inclined to believe incorrect information?
- Analyze examples from Israel and worldwide and practice identifying manipulations.
**Session 2 | September 10 | Identify, Verify, and Respond**
- Toolbox for dealing with fake news:
- Tools for checking sources, images, and videos.
- Identify bots, fake accounts, and coordinated campaigns.
- Who are the players behind the scenes and how do they influence us?
- How can we maintain a reliable and clean environment for everyone?
- Practical exercise: Deconstruct news items and develop a protocol for dealing with false information.
