You are invited to a humorous journey uncovering expressions, idioms, and modern-day concepts that originate from the Bible, whose meanings have been distorted over the years, sometimes leading to interpretations completely opposite to the authors' original intentions. Examples include: a good counsel of Ahithophel, one of the people, the rock of contention. What ancient biblical riddle embodies a misunderstanding of the authors’ intentions? What law isn’t actually a law, and why did the Hebrews separate milk and meat three thousand years ago?
All this and more will be discussed by Ariel Cohen, a lecturer on the Bible from non-religious perspectives, with contemporary interpretations and relevance to our lives. Ariel is also an author and playwright known for the lecture series "The Wonderful World of the Bible" and the project "When Bible Meets Theater" from his perspective as a theater actor.
