We are happy to host this special show again, made possible by singer Dor Nagar's visit to Israel for only two performances. This is a dream come true for us: The Blackbirds, a band setting stages on fire across the country, together with excellent musicians and guests, will perform with Nagar some of Bob Dylan's most touching and beloved songs. The show will also focus on versions from Dylan's legendary tour, The Rolling Thunder Revue, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, but not only. The biggest challenge in creating a tribute to an artist like Bob Dylan is walking the fine line between fidelity to the original and personal interpretation. This requires deep understanding, true connection, and especially musical maturity in delivery.
For those who have not yet witnessed this phenomenon, Dor Nagar possesses a rare ability to imbue Dylan's songs with truth and meet this challenge uncompromisingly. It seems that for him, the encounter with Dylan's songs is much more than a tribute. For years, he has delved into Dylan's work and the musical and literary roots from which it grew, bringing to the stage a personal, sincere, and straightforward interpretation. His approach to the songs has even earned the appreciation of Louie Kemp, one of Dylan's close friends and a producer of the Rolling Thunder Revue, who attended his performance and expressed his impression.
In 1975, the year Dylan released two masterpiece albums: "Blood on the Tracks" and "Desire" - and at the age of only 34, he embarked on an avant-garde and groundbreaking tour across America, known as The Rolling Thunder Revue. His intention, which was not commercial at all, was to get closer to his audience, in his words: Play for the People - for everyone who couldn't get tickets or reach the large stadiums and halls.
The tour, shrouded in mystery and feeling at times more like a traveling carnival than a musical performance, was documented in Martin Scorsese's semi-documentary film from 2019, "Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story", which combines truth and fiction. Dylan performed different setlists throughout the tour, but among the prominent tracks to be performed in the show include: "Oh Sister", "One More Cup of Coffee", "Just Like a Woman", "Lay Lady Lay", "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", "I Shall Be Released", and more.
