For details and purchase: In science, a free radical is an unstable molecule. It seeks, attacks, and changes structures. Ronit Ziv and Ran Ben Dror are on stage around an imaginary atom. Two experienced bodies, two sharp presences, two languages of movement. The encounter between them is built in real-time, in front of the audience. "Free Radicals" explores what lies beneath the surface: everyday gestures that cover internal fragmentation, the moment where control dissolves, the place where one body begins to influence another. The movement ranges from gentle vibrations to large, unexpected movements. Transitions are sharp and fast. Hierarchies between creator and performer, between man and woman, are examined in action. Nothing is predetermined.
Ronit Ziv is a choreographer and dancer, a lecturer in choreography in the master's program at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and a doctoral student in the Department of Theater at Tel Aviv University. Her research deals with the appearance of the naked body in Israeli dance. She was invited as a guest choreographer to Tulane University in New Orleans, Pomona College in California, and a residency at AMPA in Sydney. She has presented her research at international conferences, including a conference at the University of Munich (2025). Her recent works deal with gender-based violence: "As a Hen" — a video project she initiated, produced, and edited with the participation of 40 dancers, shown at a local witness exhibition; "One and Another" and "378.379.380," which were performed at the Suzanne Dellal Center. She served as co-artistic director of the "Curtain Up" Festival (2010–2013). Her articles have been published in the "Dance Now" journal since 2010, and she is a member of the editorial board. She won the Rosenblum Prize for Performing Arts (2020), the Arditi Prize for interdisciplinary creation and research from Tel Aviv University (2021), the Prize for Creation at the Dance Week in Be'er Sheva Fringe Theater (2018), and the Minister of Education and Culture's Prize for Young Choreographers (2002, 2005).
