In 1935, her first book of poetry, "Smoke Rings," was published. Many of her poems were set to music. She translated masterpieces of world classics. Recipient of the Israel Prize for Literature in 1970.
Who doesn't know the children's books Lea wrote: "A Flat for Rent," "The Absent-Minded Man from Kfar Azar," "The Children from Arnon Street," and more. Lea herself had no children and never married.
Lea, at age 59 and at the peak of her flourishing career, was a lecturer at the University of Jerusalem and still wrote poetry. She passed away, leaving behind a legacy of many poems, most of which were set to music after her death.
