A tribute and memorial show for the greatest Yemeni singer, Aharon Amram (Z"L).
This special and moving show is dedicated to the memory of Aharon Amram, who passed away in June 2025. Amram was a singer, poet, composer, and researcher of Yemenite Jewry. His work and immense life's work greatly influenced Israeli culture and particularly Jewish-Yemenite culture.
The special evening will be dedicated to his musical work, his efforts to preserve the heritage of Yemenite Jewry, and his enormous contribution to Jewish-Yemenite song and Israeli culture.
The performance will include touching performances of his beloved songs, accompanied by an extended band of 5 musicians and a string quartet. The stage will host great Israeli and Hebrew singers to honor Aharon Amram, including Avihu Medina, Avner Gadasi, Moshe Giyat, as well as Aharon Amram's sons, who continue his musical legacy.
Aharon Amram (Z"L) (1937-2025):
Amram was born in Sana'a, the capital of Yemen, and immigrated to Israel as part of Operation "Magic Carpet". Already in his youth, he stood out for his musical talent and began performing and singing. Amram was a pioneer and trailblazer by integrating Western musical instruments into traditional Yemenite music as early as the late 1950s and early 1960s. This step initially met with resistance but became his hallmark and opened the door for generations of singers that came after him.
Amram's life's work focused on preserving the heritage of Yemenite Jewry. He recorded and documented for many years the reading of the Torah, prayers, liturgical songs, and the singing of the Diwan, with strict adherence to the original wording and tradition. Amram not only preserved the glorious past of Yemenite Jewry, but also composed and created new music influenced by the tradition, with his songs becoming evergreens in Hebrew song. He influenced many artists, including Zohar Argov, Ofra Haza, Haim Moshe, and others. For his contributions, he was awarded the ACUM Prize for Composer and Poet and the Minister of Higher and Complementary Education's Prize for Jewish Culture, among many other awards.

The evening will be graced by leading artists, public figures, and dignitaries who were partners in Amram's path and were influenced by his work:
Avihu Medina, recipient of the Israel Prize for Hebrew Song in 2022, a singer, songwriter, and one of the most important composers in Israeli music. Medina, a leader in the struggle for the recognition of Mediterranean music, greatly contributed to making it an integral part of Hebrew song. Medina will perform his and Amram’s songs and pay tribute to the pioneer of Yemenite music.
Avner Gadasi, a veteran and beloved singer and composer who combines rock, Mediterranean music, and blues in his creations. Gadasi, who came into the public consciousness in the 1970s, was greatly influenced by Amram's unique style, and he will bring his unique voice to perform special renditions of Amram's songs.
Moshe Giyat, a singer and paytan (cantor), one of the first singers of Yemenite origin in the IDF Rabbinate choir. Giyat, who achieved great success in the 1980s, combines traditional Yemenite singing with Eastern music, and he will also perform Amram's songs in his touching style.
The sons Shachar Elram and Liron Amram, sons of Aharon Amram, who continue his musical path, will take the stage for special and moving performances of their father's songs. Their participation will be an emotional tribute to Amram's familial and musical heritage.
Furthermore, the event will be honored by the presence of the mayor of Petach Tikva, Mr. Rami Greenberg.
