A duet between two men, one fifty years old and the other twenty-one – two bodies, two timelines, coexisting on one stage: observing each other, mimicking each other, and from their similarities and differences, venturing into fantastic realms. The work originates from a period of "after": after the collapse of certainties, after the loss of trust in stable narratives. From the understanding that something new must grow, queerness here is not just a theme but a method of work: challenging narratives of masculinity, progress, success, and peak, and dwelling in unresolved situations.
The personal place of the creators – their maturation as choreographers in a field that sanctifies youth and flexibility, and the meeting between the passion for dance and the changing body, are absorbed as living material and inspiration for the creation. Tel Aviv choreographers Yossi Berg and Oded Graf, who began collaborating in 2005, have gained a reputation for groundbreaking work that is very physical, incisive, and smart. Berg and Graf have toured with their company around the world, performing in many settings, such as the Montpellier Dance Festival in France, the American Dance Festival in the USA, the Joyce Theater in New York, the Dance House Theater in Sweden, the SIDance Festival in South Korea, and have won several prestigious international awards. Additionally, they have been invited as guest choreographers to create in numerous dance companies and universities.
Yossi and Oded are artistic directors, inventors, researchers, dancers, educators, and mentors; they teach extensively around the world and focus on the next generation of dancers. Since 2020, Yossi leads the workshop dancer training program in Kibbutz Ga'aton and serves as its artistic director and teacher, while Oded led the "Haramat Masach" festival across Israel between 2020-2024, and since 2023, has been regularly teaching at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Berg and Graf are recipients of the Ministry of Culture Award in the field of choreography and the Rosenblum Award for Performing Arts for outstanding artists.
