The Gamliel Quintet celebrates the release of their debut album, AMBIDEXTROUS, with a live performance showcasing diverse influences, including Coltrane and Mingus. The ensemble members have been creating original music since 2013, blending styles such as American swing and progressive rock.
After more than a decade of shared creation, the Gamliel Quintet is celebrating the launch of their debut album, AMBIDEXTROUS – a significant milestone in the ensemble's musical journey. Gamliel will perform music that combines diverse influences, from Coltrane and Mingus to Mordechai Zeira and the Amrani family. In this performance, they will play all the pieces from the album, alongside a first glimpse of new material from their next album, which will be recorded at the end of August. The quintet was founded in 2013 during a meeting at the Rimon School and has operated as a cohesive musical collective ever since. The band members create original music together, with all compositions and arrangements crafted by them. Their work is influenced by diverse stylistic elements such as American swing, Latin rhythms, French cabaret, progressive rock, Yemeni tunes, and Israeli hora, all blending into an original, rich, and imaginative musical language.
