**Hardcore (Orot Dance)**, the new creation by Tami Lebovitz, is a captivating dance trio. Three women dance steps that accumulate into repetitions of forms; forms of women wearing forms of women. The performance examines the disintegration of the individual human body and a broader social structure; a breakdown that suggests forces of transcendence towards a new state. Through the performance, Lebovitz offers a thoughtful observation of dance and a renewed wonder of it, its beauty and the life forces inherent in it.
The music for the show, composed by Guy Gotman, is a soundtrack of rhythms – beats driving the body and the happening forward and beyond.
Tami Lebovitz is a choreographer, dancer, teacher, and costume designer. Her works place the living body in areas between dance, performance, and visual art, and have been featured at major festivals and stages in Israel and abroad, including: the Curtain Up Festival, Théâtre Garonne (Toulouse), Visual Performance Conference, Im flieger (Vienna), Machol Shalem Dance House, L1danceFest (Budapest), New Dance Festival of Interdisciplinary Arena, Bat Yam Museum, Room Dance Festival, Video Dance Festival, Loving Art. Doing Art, and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
Lebovitz graduated from the School of Visual Theatre (2007) and the two-year choreography program at Kelim (2011). She holds a Bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate from the dance and movement track for dancers and teachers at the Kibbutzim College (2014).
In recent years, Lebovitz has been developing works that extend beyond the theater hall: they last longer and have a connection with a specific community and environment. For years, Lebovitz has collaborated with artist Guy Gotman. Among their joint works: Non Troppo or the School for Weather, Oslo, and Wind Wind.
As a performer and dancer, she collaborates with artists such as Iris Erez, Anat Danieli, Daniel Landau, Ariel Efraim Ashbel, Anat Shemmer, Amos Hetz, and Gunilla Heilborn. From 2007-2015, she was a member of the 209 Performance Stage Ensemble under the artistic direction of Tamar Raban.
In 2021, she artistically co-directed with Anat Danieli the March Hare Dance Festival at the Kelim Center. In 2022, she artistically co-directed with Moshe Shechter Avshalom the ZeZ Festival of Shelter 209, Performance Stage. That same year, Lebovitz and Shechter Avshalom founded the performance ensemble for girls and boys. A year after its founding, the ensemble was invited to perform at the large-scale performance exhibition Imagine a Museum (or: The Remembering Body) at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
As of 2023, Lebovitz serves as the head of the two-year choreography program at the Kelim Center.
